(Try to guess how many are open world games)
As of right now (October 30, 2019) there are only two months until we close out this amazing decade of gaming and usher in the next decade. The era of "The '20s" or whatever we're going to end up calling them.
10 years is a long time. People do a lot of growing, lives change, the world changes, and most importantly, video games keep getting better and better. A wise person once said:
"Never Forget Where You Came From"
We live by that lesson here at KontrolFreek. After all, how would we keep continuing to innovate and bring you guys the best Performance Thumbsticks in existence?
Coincidentally, this quote also inspired our most recent bit of nostalgia-fueled in-office Googling when we asked ourselves the question: What were the best games of this past decade?
So we decided to make a blog post about it! We looked up every Game of the Year winner from the past 10 Game Awards (formerly Spike TV's VGAs) and compiled them into a list. A list that encapsulates everything entertaining, artistic, groundbreaking, moving, and just plain fun about where the wide world of video games has gone.
What do you think 2019's Game of the Year will be FreekNation? According to Metacritic, the best reviewed game of the year has been Divinity: Original Sin II, but with Death Stranding coming out this fall, who knows?
2018: God of War
2017: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2015: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
2014: Dragon Age: Inquisition
2013: Grand Theft Auto V
2012: Telltale's The Walking Dead
2011: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
2010: Red Dead Redemption
What are your thoughts? Did you enjoy this stroll down memory lane? What was your favorite game this decade? Be sure to let us know in the comments below! Til next week, FreekNation!
